The IEEE Malta Student Branch is one of the many Student Braches distributed all over the world and was founded in October 2001 by a committee of 5 members. The IEEE has gained popularity with the student body such that presently there are around 80 IEEE student members at University.

All students who are following a full time degree in Engineering or ICT at the University of Malta are eligible to join the IEEE as student members. Becoming a student member entitles the student to receive the monthly SPECTRUM magazine, an interesting magazine that covers a wide range of topics relevant to engineering and ICT. Student members are also given priority in all events organized by the IEEE Malta Student Branch.
